Huge fan of this skin-contact white! If you're new to this style, skin-contact just means that instead of pressing the juice immediately away from the skins, the white grapes will sit and macerate on the skins to pick up more phenolics and additional color (which is why it's also sometimes called "orange")

For this wine, the juice spends 8 days on the skins in stainless steel tanks and is fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel. The wine is then aged for 5 months in cement tanks on the fine lees and then spends 2 months in the bottle. On the nose it's really aromatic and floral. On the palate, there's a lot of tart fresh notes of citrus and apricots with a definitive minerality and weight due to the tannin. This is a really great entry level skin-contact "orange" wine.

Raina is owned and operated by Francesco Mariani, a chef, turned winemaker and native Umbrian from Montefalco. He started in 2007 and has worked tirelessly to cultivate the land, the grapes and the wine with sustainability in mind. Raina became certified biodynamic in 2012 and strictly adheres to the principles. Francesco believes in terroir driven wines that are meant for drinking!
